Sometimes, certain texts - like slogans, taglines, and jokes - do not bear translation because of the cultural references and word play they contain. In these cases, I work together with the client to find an impactful solution that is in line with the tone of the source text.       

 

This process, distinct from translation, is sometimes referred to as “localization” as it involves adapting a text to “local” sensibilities.
